It found that there it was possible to experience performance anxiety without increased blood pressure and heartrate. This is not surprising since performance anxiety can be experienced as purely cognitive (negative self-thoughts, for example), psychological, or behavioral. In any event, a very interesting study that confirms that in most cases, physiological symptoms are present for MPA. I ...This is such an interesting topic to look into. I don't think I know any musician who does not suffer from some sort of stage fright. <br />I have found that if I am not really nervous before a performance, I am not able to connect well with what I am performing or even the audience. I see stage fright to be a good thing up to an extent. If it reaches a point where someone is so anxious that they begin avoiding performances, it is a problem. I suppose the person in this case may be experiencing high MPA with the longer pathway.<br />I agree that it is odd that they measured anxiety with surveys and the other two quantitatively.
